From the town of
A mission from our sister city,
The 1993 mission consisted of two members: La Verne Roche, Vice President for the Sister City Association of Tracy, Inc., arriveing on October 17 and Eugene D. Birk, the association's accountant, arriving on the 19th. Although they were undoubtedly tired from their long trip, they were quite active, meeting as many citizens as possible in Memuro. They paid their respects to Mayor Suzuki, visited public facilities such as schools and attended various receptions.
The mission members enjoyed their stay, in spite of their tight
schedule. They purchased several wood craft souveniers in the workshop for the handicapped and had a
chance to play a Japanese harp (koto) at a
party. They also showed their concern for the farmers of Memuro who suffered from a poor crop the previous
year.
